I was so happy with the breakfasts we had in Cambodia, so I was on the hunt for another restaurant which serves a good continental breakfast, that also serves the Lao baguette and coffee. We didn't have to walk far, because the famous Luang Prabang Bakery was very near our hotel.
The baguette was served warm, wrapped in a cotton napkin.
And the continental breakfast I was looking for!
Walking further down the road, we found many stores like this selling souvenirs, bags, and silk.
Lay's!!!
There were many alleys which lead to other interesting stores and hotels.
More walking brought us to Wat Choumkong Sourintharame, which is know to be small but beautiful because of its gardens. The temple is said to be covered in red poinsettias during the colder months. It has also underwent several restorations over the past century.
This wat has Chinese entrance guardians or "door gods" -- an influence from Thai temples.
I didn't know monks were allowed to have tattoos?
Walking further...
Someone was thoughtful enough to write some do's and don'ts while in Luang Prabang:
There was a creperie in town which didn't have a name -- it was strongly recommended by travellers. You can find it in front of Croissant d'Or on the main road... Of course we had to try!
Chocolate crepe with fruits
It was midday and it's not unusual to see people with a bottle of beer since Luang Prabang was so laid back and relaxed. We've been seeing a lot of people wearing Beerlao shirts in Cambodia, so we just had to try some Beerlao!! D had the dark beer and I had the usual Lager.
:)
